Issue - Sericol wanted to ensure it was meeting its legal requirements for health and safety, and had concerns at the levels of industrial injury (and subsequent sickness absence) and wanted to establish methods for improvement.

Approach - Sericol engaged Premier to conduct an initial organisational audit that identified risks, reviewed compliance with health and safety legislation, and provided management with solutions in controlling sickness absence and its related costs.

Benefit - From the audit and introduction of occupational health policies there were improvements in return to work rates, fewer personal injury claims and management are confident that legislative requirements are being met. The investment in occupational health has provided a long-term financial benefit and productivity improvement with absenteeism reduced by 42% over two years.
